To L'Aber Wrach for Aber16

Saturday 9th July

We tear ourselves away from the home comforts at Gaynor's house and get back on the road westwards.
We had cancelled our registration for Aber16 when we decided not to sail here in Bonify but we reckon we should turn up and greet our sailor friends anyway. Once close to Brest we turn off onto bumpy side roads and follow signs to Lanéda and then L'Aber Wrach.
At the first barrier on the road in they wave us through, at the second they ask if we have a pass but when we haven't they shrug and wave us through again. At the third there is some discussion about whether we are getting lifted into the water or not but they can't decide what else to fo so they wave us through and then at the final hurdle they send a man on a bike to show us where we can park. Old boats open doors around here!

Lots of our Gaffer friends are here after some long and rough passages: Witch, Gwenili, High Barbaree, Blue Moon and Windbreker are old friends but now we meet Passager, Carlotta, Theta and many more.

We are adopted as guest crew by kind skippers who have fewer crew than anticipated an d as such are able to join in with crew drinks and crew dinner. Excellent craic!
